This Vikasana Retreat was held in the Costa Blanca region of Spain, near Alicante.
The area is known for its beautiful beaches, warm climate, and peaceful countryside, aka a perfect backdrop for a women's wellness retreat at this hidden gem Villa.
Getting there: The nearest airport is Alicante-Elche Airport (ALC) .
I live in Alicante, so I for me getting there was easy. I got a ride with Vikasana Retreat organiser Rhiannon.
Venue: The retreat venue is amazing villa located in between the mountains. It is silent and peaceful location surrounded by nature.
First impression: I really loved the greenery, palm trees and pool that I saw when I arrived. The yoga spot is also amazing little platform facing the mountains.
Vikasana Retreats are rooted in the wisdom of Ayurveda and yoga.
The retreats are designed to help women slow down, restore balance, and reconnect with their body, inner cycles, and deeper purpose.
Example Daily Schedule:
| 07:30 | Yoga Class / Meditation (Hatha, Vinyasa, Gentle, Yin, Viniyoga) |
| 09:00 | Breakfast |
| 10:00 | Morning Group Activity (interactive workshops, conversation circle) |
| 12:00 | Relaxation Time (pool, hot tub, rest) |
| 13:00 | Lunch |
| 14:00 | Silent Inner Inquiry (guided journaling and meditation) |
| 15:00 | Afternoon Group Activity (Ayurvedic cooking class, hiking, workshop) |
| 16:30 | Relaxation Time |
| 18:00 | Yoga Class |
| 19:30 | Dinner |
| 20:30 | Wind Down (Yoga Nidra, Sound Healing, Meditation) |
I found the daily rhythm nicely balanced to feel restful and like holidays, and at the same time having enough activities to stimulate the mind and body for new ideas.
Styles offered: The retreat includes Hatha, Vinyasa, Gentle, Yin, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, and Viniyoga.
I really liked the mix of many different yoga styles, and that kept the body feeling good for the whole retreat as well as we didn’t just repeat similar ashtanga flows every day.
Level: I would say the level was beginner-friendly, and Rhiannon made sure everyone has a variation of asana that works for them. As I have practiced quite long, I could have used some more advanced classes as well, but also the “ease” of the physical practice is a challenge for the mind. And in my opinion, even from “beginner-friendly” class, all advanced practitioners can also find new things to explore. And the versatility of many different yoga styles kept the classes engaging and gave every day something new to explore for mind, body and soul.
Teaching style: I personally really liked Rhiannon’s teaching style. It is calm, clear and supportive. She would demonstrate most of the flows, which I personally find a good teaching style, as opposed to simply telling and walking around the room that can leave yogis confused.
She offered adjustments for different bodies. What I liked most how she held the space for the whole class, making us yogis simply focus on practice (and beautiful surroundings).
Breath & meditation: We had a little bit of breathwork and meditation combined to the yoga classes, but we mostly focused on movement.
Ayurveda workshops: Gina would be the teacher of Ayurveda and mindset workshops.
She would open the session with introducing the topic of the day and telling some theory about it. But then we would quickly go to journaling ourselves based on her prompts and afterwards we would share and discuss.
I found this a good balance and inspiring way to journal and get deeper into some topics, like reflecting on what do we want from life and what kinds of thought patterns have prevented us from reaching that (I know, small, simple questions about existence).
Ayurvedic cooking class: We also had ayurvedic cooking class organised by the Ayurcvedic chef Baru. She was really passionate about the topic and we got to prepare ayurvedic spice mixes by ourselves.
Guided journaling & meditation: For the afternoon free time, we would always get journaling prompt and a meditation technique that we were free to explore. I think this was a great way to give inspiring input, while not forcing people to sit still for hours, but decide to either engage with the task, or simply relax and lay down by the pool.
Nature hike: We did a little hike in a nearby nature. It was abot 6kms, so not too challenging, but a nice chance to walk a bit in nature and chat with other retreat participants.
Evening wind-downs: We had yoga nidra and tibetan sound bowl sessions. They were simply a lovely way to end the day.
Vikasana Retreats are women-only retreats designed for those who are longing for time and space to truly rest, away from daily demands.
The group of course is different every time, but what I found made the experience great was that we were all women in different life situations, from different ages, different countries.
Yet we all would have a lot of things and struggles in common to discuss and reflect on.
We’re all seeking how to be a woman in 21st century and choose our own well-being, while balancing with all other obligations of life.
The atmosphere felt safe and inspiring.

Three nourishing Ayurvedic meals each day (vegetarian/vegan) cooked with care by Ayurvedic chef Baru.
All the meals were made with love and great ingredients. Meals were healthy, tasty and really versatile.
Baru would gladly tell more about the ingredients and how they affect our doshas, as well as accommodate to specific dietary needs. Overall, I was very happy with the tasty and lovely meals.
In between meals, there would always be tea and coffee (and ghee).
When booking a retreat, you can choose a room type you prefer. I was staying in a simple one-bedroom, which was small but functional. The bed was good and I got an extra pillow as well upon request.
If you need a silent room, I recommend asking for that when booking.

🧘♀️ The Yoga Space
Covered yoga deck: The lower yoga deck was covered from the rain, but still having nature views. It worked well for our group of 12, but for 16 or so, it would have been a bit small.
Outdoor yoga deck: The outdoor deck was a highlight of the retreat space: beautiful mountain views from a stunning wooden deck. However, being surrounded by mountains sometimes also means rainy weather, so we could not use this everytime.
I felt quite overwhelmed before the retreat, and so did many other participants say as well.Even though the retreat was just 4 full days, I felt completely different afterwards.
Other participants were saying the same how they felt like they would need at least 2 months off to recover, but somehow this calm and inspiring 4 days seemed to already make miracles for our energy levels.
❤️ What I Loved Most
Yoga at the outdoor yoga deck with mountain views, inspiring personal growth workshops and enjoying hot tub outdoors in the afternoon.

hese may seem obvious, but let me say it anyways.
The retreat is located in nature, so there are no cafeterias or restaurants nearby.
Also being surrounded by mountains sometimes means colder days and rain instead of endless sunshine. There is no indoor yoga space, but a covered yoga space outdoors, which does work well most of the year.
Based on my experience, Vikasana retreat organised by Gina and Rhiannon is ideal for:
Women longing for rest and time away from daily demands and hectic city life.
Women at a crossroads, seeking clarity and direction.
Anyone curious about Ayurveda and yoga.
The retreats fit for all levels, you don’t need further experience of ayurveda or yoga.
Honestly, I would recommend this beautiful women’s retreat for anyone seeking for an inspiring pause in Spain.
And therefore I can offer you a 50€ discount for the next Vikasana Retreats that will be in this same, fantastic retreat location as where I participated the retreat.
This Yoga & Ayurveda retreat will be organised June 2-6, 2027.
