Best way to book a trip to Lapland and best companies to book Lapland activities for DIY Lapland trip.
How far in advance to book Lapland travel?
Lapland can be a pricey destination, yet with booking beforehand and from correct websites, you can make the trip to Lapland both cheaper and better experience.
During the high season in winter in Lapland popular activities and accommodation may sell out, so it’s worth booking it beforehand.
You will get better deals when you book early, as prices get higher just before the high season.
I’m a Finn and I used to live in Lapland and work within the tourism sector there.
I recommend booking 6-12 months beforehand.
For example, book your Christmas trip in December to Finland, ideally during June-July.
Prices are also lower when you book in advance because many more people book the trip just 1-3 months before the trip.
In this article, I tell you insider tips to book via the best platforms and directly from the tours to make the best out of your Lapland trip.
At the end of this article, you will find the best ready-to-book tours and accommodations that I recommend.

You can fly in Finnish Lapland to 3 airports: Rovaniemi, Kittilä, and Ivalo.
Regardless of where you fly from, I always recommend finding the best flight deals from Skyscanner.
Skyscanner is a legit site to compare and find flights from hundreds of airlines in one place.
Finnish national airline Finnair is the option for internal flights in Finland, but even those you will find within Skyscanner.
Once you have chosen your flights, you can continue to book your flights from Skyscanner from the airlines. Skyscanner does not take any commission or add any fee, so you can simply click to the airline from there.
In Lapland, we have many accommodation types, like glass igloos, cottages, small cabins and even snow hotels.
Most of these can be found in known booking platforms, like Booking and Trivago, but for cabins, cottages and villas it is good to check also Finnish site Lomarengas and Airbnb.
You may also find great accommodation deals in Finnish Lapland from relevant Facebook groups where locals offer their homes and cottages for rent.
For example:
Mummonmökit, myynti ja vuokraus
Mökkien osto/myynti/vuokraus+mökkitontit
These Facebook groups are in Finnish, but you can easily auto translate messages, and even ask for rental opportunities in English, as Finnish people generally speak English.
If you are looking for special places to stay in Finnish Lapland, I recommend checking these specific articles listing the best lodges, luxury igloos and hotels in Lapland.

Generally speaking, as soon as possible. But the best time to book Decemeber trip to Finnish Lapland is between May-September.
Absolutely! Lapland has four amazing seasons that all offer different experiences.
Summer in Finland offers nightless nights and lush nature, autumn is about autumn foliage and northern lights and spring is awesome for skiing, after skiing and northern lights.
As a Finn who has lived many years in Lapland, best time to visit Finnish Lapland is in March.
Absolutely! However, I recommend booking accommodation and most of the tours beforehand to guarantee good prices.
