1. If you manage to challenge your stuck thought patterns and even change them, that is yoga.

Yoga is “chitta vritti nirodha” which means controlling/removing the fluctuations of the mind. This is probably even surprising for people who first got to know western yoga via asanas that challenge flexibility and static strength.

2. The whole purpose of these asanas is to help you sit for longer periods of time for meditation.

Asana actually means a seat. All these common yoga poses, like sun salutation, cat-cow, pigeon pose or warriors are there just to prepare and open your body to sit steadily and comfortably with spine straight and mind empty.

3. Do not attach, even to asanas

We shouldn’t get too attached to certain asanas, like being proud of splits, inversions or backbends, as the goal in the end is just to sit still. Also, it’s your ego talking if you take pride of that.

4. Practice and knowledge is there to be shared.

I can not take credit for example all these yoga tips I share here, I am just happy to share the ancient yoga knowledge I’ve gotten from my teachers and other yoga practitioners.

5. Yoga is a lifestyle and practice, not a doctrine.

It’s not a religion, it’s a commitment to practice towards higher self, deeper connection with your mind-body and deeper connection with the universe.

6. Don’t trust your gut feeling, but trust your heart feeling.

If you’re getting a lot of butterflies, it probably means something might go wrong. Whereas if you feel it with your heart, it is always correct.

6. All is energy.

What you give, you get. You know in your heart what are the right actions, so do that. Can’t hear your heart what’s the right action and you are confused? Meditate and turn inwards regularly to learn.

7. The value of regular practice

Yoga requires patience and regular practice, just like all the great things in life.
