What makes Tallinn special for a wellness trip?

  1. Sauna culture is woven into daily life – In Estonia, sauna isn’t a luxury; it’s a tradition. Many hotels have multiple saunas, from Finnish-style to smoke saunas, and some even offer private sauna rituals.

  2. Historic settings meet modern wellness – You can soak in a pool in a 19th-century telegraph building or enjoy a spa treatment in a medieval merchant’s house.

  3. Exceptional value – Compared to Western Europe, Tallinn’s luxury spa hotels offer incredible quality for the price.

7 Wellness Hotels in Tallinn– Handpicked Recommendations

Note: All the hotels are handpicked by Sini Hietaharju. More information is collected from multiple booking platforms and reviews.

1. 🏨 Hilton Tallinn Park – The Modern Wellness Choice

spa-hotel-recommendation-tallinn

📍 Location: City Center (Kesklinn) – 1.3 km from Old Town

Why I love it:

This is the kind of modern wellness hotel I would choose for a weekend break in Tallinn.

Hilton is known to be high-quality, and in Tallinn it is also affordable. The pool section is awesome, the gym is functional and well-lit (instead of a typical small basement hotel gym), breakfast is fabulous, and the location is great. You won't regret booking this.

PRO TIP: Request a room from higher floors for stunning views.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

Guests enjoy free access to the Eforea Spa, which features:

- 15-meter indoor swimming pool

- Jacuzzi / whirlpool

- 2 saunas (Finnish sauna and steam room)

- 4 treatment rooms offering massages, body wraps, and facials

- Outdoor terrace and relaxation area

The spa is consistently praised for being modern, clean, and tranquil. Some top-floor suites even come with a private sauna.

🏋️ Fitness Center:

Unlike the typical dark basement hotel gym, Hilton Tallinn Park offers a well-lit, functional 24-hour fitness center – a rare treat for travelers who like to maintain their workout routine.

🍽️ Food & Dining:

Breakfast here is a standout. Guests rave about the variety and quality, with rare options like Eggs Benedict and freshly made omelettes prepared right in front of you. The hotel also houses Able Butcher steakhouse with an open kitchen and an international wine cellar.

📍 Location Perks:

Situated in the city center, the hotel is:

- 1.3 km from the UNESCO-listed Old Town (about a 15-minute walk)

- 800 meters from Kadriorg Stadium and 2 km from Kadriorg Park

- 3 km from Tallinn Airport

- Located right next to Politseiaed Park – a peaceful green escape

👥 Best for: Couples, solo travelers, business travelers, and anyone seeking a high-quality wellness stay with excellent value for money.

Guest rating: 9.1/10 on Booking.com (based on thousands of reviews)

2. 🏨 Palace Hotel Tallinn, a member of Radisson Individuals – The Romantic City-Centre Classic

spahoteltallinn

📍 Location: City Centre (Vabaduse Väljak / Freedom Square) – 300 metres from Old Town

Why I love it:

This is also a great hotel in a great location, with a bit more romantic style compared to the modern Hilton one. Palace offers also a great indoor pool, fitness centre and perfect breakfast. Another wonderful choice with great value for money for a lovely, relaxing experience.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

Guests are welcome to visit the gym, small swimming pool, spa bath and steam or Finnish sauna on the lower ground floor. The spa area is consistently praised by guests as a highlight – clean, tasteful, and the perfect way to start or end your day.

🏋️ Fitness Center:

The hotel offers a well-equipped fitness centre on the lower ground floor, available for guests to use during their stay.

🍽️ Food & Dining:

Breakfast here is a standout. Guests consistently praise the excellent buffet breakfast with a wide variety of hot and cold options. The hotel's restaurant serves international dishes, though note that it may not be open every evening – but with the Old Town just 300 metres away, you have countless dining options right outside your door.

📍 Location Perks:

Situated on Freedom Square (Vabaduse väljak) at the edge of the Old Town, the hotel offers a location that's hard to beat:

- 300 metres from the UNESCO-listed Old Town – literally across the street

- 550 metres from Town Hall and Town Hall Square

- 400 metres from Toompea Hill and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

- 5.5 km from Tallinn Airport

- The medieval Old Town, modern business quarter, shopping centres and cultural establishments are all just a few minutes' walk away

👥 Best for: Couples, couples seeking a romantic escape, solo travellers, and anyone who wants a classic, elegant stay right on the edge of the Old Town with excellent wellness facilities.

Guest rating: 9.1/10 on Booking.com (based on 2,160+ reviews)– location rated 9.6/10

3. 🏨 Hestia Hotel Kentmanni – The Boutique Wellness Alternative

modern-boutique-wellness-hotel-in-tallinn-estonia

📍 Location: City Centre – 600 metres from Old Town

Why I love it:

This hotel also gives the wellness spa hotel vibes I'm always looking for. The spa and gym are modern, the rooms are functional, and the location is on point. This is another one that you won't go wrong with.

What makes it different:

While Hilton Tallinn Park offers a larger wellness experience and Palace leans into classic romance, Hestia Kentmanni is the boutique alternative – smaller, more intimate, and distinctly its own. It offers private rooftop terraces in select rooms (a view you won't get at Hilton or Palace), plus the option to book rooms with private saunas or whirlpool tubs. It's also eco-certified – a nice touch for the mindful traveller.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

- Fitness centre

- Sauna

- Hot tub / jacuzzi

- Steam room

The spa is small but perfectly adequate – cozy, clean, and relaxing. Some rooms come with a private sauna or whirlpool tub.

🍽️ Food & Dining:

Breakfast is a standout – guests rave about the variety, including vegan options and even Prosecco. It's the kind of breakfast that sets you up perfectly for a slow day of exploring.

📍 Location:

- 600 metres from the UNESCO-listed Old Town (8-minute walk)

- 3 km from Tallinn Airport

- Guest rating for location: 9.0/10

👥 Best for: Solo travellers, couples, and anyone who prefers a boutique, intimate wellness experience over a large hotel. Great for longer stays thanks to room options with kitchenettes.

Guest rating: 9.0/10 on Booking.com (based on 7,253+ reviews)

4. 🏨 Kernu Manor Hotel & SPA – The Countryside Retreat Near Tallinn

spa-hotel-estonia-recommendation

📍 Location: Kernu – 10 km from Tallinn

Why I love it:

This is a special spa hotel 10 km from Tallinn that offers a proper retreat vibe. It is ideal especially for groups and couples looking for a special getaway outside the city. The natural surroundings, absolutely stunning romantic interiors and spa make this fantastic, for example for an anniversary celebration. This is a spa hotel recommendation if you want a hidden gem with easy connection, as it's just 10 km from Tallinn.

What makes it different:

While the other hotels on this list are right in the city, Kernu Manor is a true escape. Set in a 19th-century manor house with a beautiful park, a pond, and peaceful nature all around, it offers a historical atmosphere you simply can't find in the city. Guests consistently praise the homely, friendly service (staff rating 9.7/10) and the cozy, clean rooms – some with lake views.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

- Well-sized spa area with sauna and relaxation facilities

- Beautiful park and pond – perfect for morning or evening walks

- Recreational options including billiards and hiking trails

5. 🏨 Tallink Spa & Conference Hotel – The Harbour Convenience Choice

best-hotel-near-harbour-tallinn

📍 Location: City Centre (Sadama 11A) – 100 metres from Passenger Port, 5-minute walk to Old Town

Why I love it:

Even if you're not at a conference, this is a great choice. The location near the harbour is fantastic – especially if you're heading to cross to Finland by ferry – and the place offers a good overall experience. I'd still recommend Hilton or Palace for better spa and gym, but this is the best choice if you need easy access to the harbour.

What makes it different:

Location, location, location. Tallinn Passenger Port is just 100 metres away – you can literally walk to your ferry. It's also the only hotel on this list with both indoor and outdoor pools (seasonal outdoor pool in summer). The glass-fronted modern building is hard to miss, and guests keep coming back – it has a loyal repeat guest base.

On the flip side, there is no gym – so if fitness is a priority, look at Hilton or Palace instead.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

The Aqua Spa is the star here:

- Indoor pool

- Seasonal outdoor pool (open in summertime)

- Various types of saunas

- Hot tub / jacuzzi

- Children's pool

- Beauty treatments and massages available

You can even enjoy cocktails in the pool bar – yes, drinks in the water.

🍽️ Food & Dining:

The elegant restaurant Nero serves Estonian and international dishes, with a large breakfast buffet that includes vegan, gluten-free, and vegetarian options. In the evenings, an authentic Italian menu is available from 5–11 pm.

📍 Location:

- 100 metres from Tallinn Passenger Port – perfect for ferry travellers

- 5-minute walk to UNESCO-listed Old Town and Great Coastal Gate

- Couples rate the location 9.1/10

-

👥 Best for: Ferry travellers, families (children's pool available), groups, and anyone who values harbour proximity over gym facilities.

-

Guest rating: 8.3/10 on Booking.com (Facilities 8.4, Location 9.1, Cleanliness 8.5)

6. 🏨 Radisson Collection Hotel Tallinn – The Rooftop Bar & City Views Choice

radisson-hotel-tallinn

📍 Location: City Centre – 400 metres from Estonian National Opera, short walk to Old Town

Why I love it:

This Radisson hotel of course offers the trusted Radisson quality, but also a great rooftop bar with stunning views and atmosphere. This is a go-to choice during summer. The whole place is modern, breakfast is fantastic and the beds are comfortable. The walking distances to all the main sites of Tallinn are short.

What makes it different:

This is the only hotel on this list with a 24th-floor rooftop terrace and bar – the views over Tallinn are absolutely breathtaking, especially during summer sunsets. It's also part of the premium Radisson Collection brand, offering a slightly more upscale experience than standard Radisson properties. Guests consistently rate it 9.5/10 for facilities and 9.6/10 for comfort and cleanliness – some of the highest scores on this list.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

- Indoor swimming pool

- Spa & wellness centre

- Fitness centre

- Sauna and relaxation areas

The spa is modern and well-maintained – perfect for unwinding after a day of exploring.

🍽️ Food & Dining:

Breakfast is a standout – guests rave about the quality, with à la carte options available. The 24th-floor rooftop bar is the real highlight here, offering panoramic city views with your drink in hand.

📍 Location:

- 400 metres from Estonian National Opera

- Short walk to Old Town, Town Hall Square, and Alexander Nevsky Cathedral

- 3 km from Tallinn Airport

- Couples rate the location 9.4/10

👥 Best for: Couples, solo travellers, summer visitors, and anyone who wants a modern, premium stay with spectacular views and short walking distance to everything.

Guest rating: 9.4/10 on Booking.com (Staff 9.5, Facilities 9.5, Cleanliness 9.6, Comfort 9.6)

7. 🏨 Mövenpick Hotel Tallinn (formerly L'Embitu Hotel) – The Premium City-Centre Choice

movenpick-hotel-tallinn

📍 Location: City Centre (Lembitu Street) – 7-minute walk to Old Town

Why I love it:

Another wonderful option with a central location. During my comparison, this was a little bit pricier than the hotels listed higher on this article, however, still reasonable for what you get. There are many great healthy options at breakfast and the spa is amazing. Generally the hotel is very modern — definitely a great option for a Tallinn getaway.

Note: Since October 2023, this hotel has been rebranded as Mövenpick Hotel Tallinn, a premium brand of the Accor Group. So if you're searching for it, look for Mövenpick!

What makes it different:

This is the only 5-star hotel on this list, and it shows in the details. The rooms are contemporary with marble bathrooms, bathrobes and slippers as standard, and some even come with a private in-room sauna or a balcony with park views. It also has a rooftop restaurant with a terrace overlooking the city — breakfast with a view doesn't get better than this. Plus, there's the daily "Chocolate Hour" , a beloved Mövenpick tradition.

🧖 Spa & Wellness Highlights:

Guests have complimentary access to the spa and relaxation area, which includes:

- Indoor swimming pool with hydromassage zones

- Japanese pool

- Cold plunge pool

- Steam room

- Finnish sauna

- Small fitness room (free of charge)

Children under 16 are allowed in the spa daily between 10:00–19:00, accompanied by an adult.

🍽️ Food & Dining:

Breakfast is served at the ROOF restaurant on the top floor with stunning city views. Guests consistently praise the amazing quality and variety, with vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options available. The hotel also features a Wine & Tapas Cellar in the renovated historic wing.

---

📍 Location:

- 7-minute walk to UNESCO-listed Old Town

- 5-minute walk to Estonian Opera House and Alexela Concert Hall

- 1 km to Town Hall Square

- 3 km to Tallinn Airport

- 1.9 km to Tallinn Passenger Port

- Couples rate the location 9.1/10

👥 Best for: Couples, luxury seekers, and anyone who wants a premium 5-star experience with an incredible spa and rooftop dining — all just a short walk from the Old Town.

Guest rating: 9.1/10 on Booking.com (location 9.1)

5 Other Great Wellness Stays Worth Knowing

Even though I didn't include these five hotels in Tallinn in my main top 7 list, they're definitely worth knowing about. Here's a quick overview of some other great wellness spots in Tallinn.

🏨 Nunne Boutique Hotel – The Intimate Old Town Boutique

📍 Location: Old Town

Nunne Boutique Hotel is a 4-star boutique hotel located 300 metres from Town Hall Square. It features a small but exclusive spa with three saunas, a steam room, and a bubble massage pool – available exclusively for hotel guests. The spa costs €20 per person per hour.

What makes it unique: Private, intimate spa experience right in the medieval Old Town – you won't find crowded spa facilities here.

Price point: Higher – around $264+ per night. The intimate boutique experience comes at a premium.

Best for: Couples and travellers seeking privacy and intimacy in the Old Town.

🏨 Swissôtel Tallinn – The Sky-High Luxury Spa

📍 Location: City Centre

Swissôtel Tallinn is one of the city's tallest buildings, located right in the city centre. The Pürovel Spa & Sport on the 11th floor offers an urban wellness sanctuary with Alpine-inspired treatments, a heated indoor pool, Finnish sauna, steam room, and a top-class fitness club. The hotel is also Green Key certified for sustainability.

What makes it unique: City skyline views + Alpine-inspired spa in one package. Located in Tallinn's highest building, most rooms offer stunning views over the medieval Old Town and the Gulf of Finland. The rooftop Horisont restaurant is Michelin-listed, offering French-Asian fusion cuisine with panoramic views.

Price point: As a 5-star hotel, it's on the higher end – but for the views, facilities, and Michelin-listed dining, it offers great value for luxury seekers.

Best for: Couples, business travellers, luxury seekers, and anyone who wants premium amenities with panoramic views.

🏨 Hotel Telegraaf, Autograph Collection – The Historic Luxury Spa

📍 Location: Old Town

Hotel Telegraaf is a 5-star luxury hotel in a 1878 historic building, just 70 metres from Town Hall Square. Its Telegraaf Spa in the basement is often called the most luxurious spa in Tallinn's Old Town, featuring an indoor pool, hot tub, sauna, steam room, and treatment rooms.

What makes it unique: Historic charm meets 5-star luxury, right in the heart of the Old Town. The building itself is a piece of history.

Price point: Higher – around $186–$586 per night. It's a premium experience, but the price-value ratio is lower compared to my top 7 recommendations.

Best for: Romantic getaways, luxury seekers, and history lovers who want to stay inside a UNESCO-listed landmark.

🏨 Iglupark – The Coastal Sauna Retreat

📍 Location: Port Noblessner (seafront)

The experience includes a traditional sauna session followed by a refreshing dip in the Baltic Sea – available year-round. Morning sauna is available daily from 8:30 AM at a fixed price of €20.

What makes it unique: A bucket-list experience – staying in a wooden igloo cabin by the sea with panoramic windows overlooking the Baltic. Guest rating is 9.2/10.

Important note: Iglupark is only available during winter. For a real igloo experience, I actually recommend travelling to Finnish Lapland instead – check out my article on luxury accommodation in Lapland for the full Arctic experience.

Best for: Design lovers, solo travellers, couples, and anyone wanting a unique coastal wellness experience – but only if you're visiting in winter.

📍 Location: Old Town edge

There's also a free playroom for children. The hotel is eco-certified and includes a free breakfast buffet with your stay.

What makes it unique: An ideal choice for families – the water park alone is reason enough to stay here.

What to know: For a romantic getaway, this is not the best choice. The rooms are quite basic, and the atmosphere is very family-oriented. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic escape, choose one of the other hotels on this list instead.

Best for: Families with children, groups, and anyone who wants water park fun combined with spa facilities.
